A Salon on the Art of Conversation
Growing Relationships in the Digital Age
It is getting harder to build relationships.
The data supports it.
Americans are lonelier than ever.
For a whole new generation, building relationships is difficult because the building block of relationships—face to face conversations—fall by the wayside in a digital world.
Maybe it’s time to rediscover the art of conversation.
If you are a creative, community builder or just love a good conversation, please join us on September 24 for a special Salon in collaboration with Inkwell Story.
Hear from our local literary artists such as:
Professor Dean Nelson—a master conversationalist, author, and founder of the Writer’s Symposium By The Sea where he has interviewed authors for over 30 years on the craft of writing.
Caitlin Barnes—An educator, strategist, chaplain and a teaching pastor at Light Church who serves as “a witness to God with both words and wonder.”

What is a Salon?
Parisian salons in the 17th and 18th centuries were an important place for the exchange of ideas and building of community.
The word salon first appeared in France in 1664 and derived from the Italian “salone,” the large reception hall of Italian mansions. Salone, was the augmentative form of sala which is commonly known in Spanish as the living room.
With that inspiration of a warm, comfortable and intimate space for connecting and sharing life, La Sala Gatherings was born.
What is La Sala Gatherings?
La Sala Gatherings is an intentional community that hosts salons, conferences, intimate retreats and dinner gatherings for deep thinking and big-hearted professionals to reflect and engage on vocation, arts, craft, and faith.
